There are plenty of technical revolutions and opportunities in agriculture, but it still requires that traditional mix of seeing the opportunities (from pioneers on horseback who saw future ploughed fields among the scrubby plains, to those today looking at chemistry and engineering to improve breeds, machines and techniques), the persistence to hold onto the dream through good and bad seasons and prices, and plain hard yakka (putting some muscle behind the shovel, not giving-up until the job is done, often well beyond public service hours).
